I adopted my first greyhound in 2015. I fell in love with the breed from the first day. Since then I've had other greyhounds in my life through adoption, fostering, or just dog sitting. I joined the GPA Houston board in 2024 in order to do anything I can to help these wonderful dogs find excellent homes in the Houston area.

I joined the GPAH family in 2013 when I adopted Paloma and Redford. These hounds brought so much joy to my life, and showed me I had found the perfect breed. In 2024, I was beyond thrilled to welcome home Flash, my Aussie/Texas hound. I found supportive, welcoming volunteers in GPAH, always ready with good advice and fun events. I can’t wait to share this experience, and these lovely hounds, with others.

I adopted my first grey in 2005. She introduced me to the world of a wonderful breed, taught me so much and welcomed many other greys through our home over the years. I fostered, provided transport, attended meet and greet functions, fundraised, newsletter editor and countless many more other jobs that I tried to volunteer for. I learned something from each and every greyhound whether I adopted, fostered or just spent time with. I was so thrilled when GPAH was offered to once again introduce greyhounds to many more loving homes. Greyhounds make the best pets!
Amy's journey with greyhounds began in 2001 when she adopted her first greyhound and instantly fell in love with the breed. Since then, her home has always welcomed at least one greyhound, reflecting her deep passion and commitment to these wonderful dogs. In October 2023, Amy joined the GPA-H Board, bringing with her years of experience and dedication as a volunteer. Over the years, she has contributed in numerous ways, showcasing her versatility and unwavering support for the organization. Currently, Amy serves as a Facebook administrator and works diligently on the newsletter, ensuring that the community stays informed and engaged. Amy's love for greyhounds and her tireless efforts to support GPA-H make her an invaluable member of the board.
When we first adopted greyhounds we adopted two, knowing that racing greys are never alone. We adopted our first two greyhounds (Count and Shadow) in 2007 and it was love at first sighthounds. Sometime after that we failed fostering and got a third grey (Freckles). I was sold on the breed and decided to get involved with GPAH to help other retired racers find their forever homes. I have worked with GPAH in several capacities (hosted storefronts, greyhound playgroups, publicity, fostering, etc). My favorite job was taking photos of the new dogs for the website. I got know most of the kennel dogs and it was hard not to bring home another greyt grey! Our current hounds are Freckles, Magic and Trouble.
Hi, I’m Chelsea. I’m somewhat new to the greyhound gang, having adopted my first greyhound about 2.5 years ago. Since then, I have fallen in love and learned so much about the breed (with a lot left to learn!). Working closely with these hounds has fueled my desire for learning more about them and dedicating time to help them. I am excited as well as committed to helping these cutie pies and driving GPA - Houston to greater heights!
