We're at it again!

The Holiday Gift-giving Season is upon us...  Houston Area bookstores invite GPA into their shops to offer a gift-wrapping service to their customers. The customer gets an additional bonus in that they get to know firsthand the retired racing greyhound! For a donation, a GPA volunteer will wrap their purchase.  The bookstore provides the wrapping paper and all supplies, and we (the volunteers, both 2-legged and 4-legged) provide the service to the customer of the store!

Fun!

This is fun for the volunteer--as we all know how we will 'gush' on about our hounds--but too, our hounds like to get out and meet and greet the public.  You don't have to be adept at gift-wrapping--you might be one of the volunteers that will serve as the 'handler' and will help to answer some of the public's questions.  You might also help to hand out brochures.  In any case, this is an important event that helps to put some additional operating funds into our coffers. (Please see far right column for donations from previous years!)

Some may not realize or may forget that by being in that bookstore, or traveling from your car to the mall, on your way to the bookstore, you are planting a seed into the mind of the public. You serve as an ambassador for this wonderful breed. Please realize that as you walk to a venue with your retired racing greyhound, you are presenting a hound with a noble, rich and storied past....

Reach out to the public--Let them see the greyhound as we do! And keep up the greyt work!
