...On the Road Again...

Members trip to Kanab 2006

* UNDER CONSTRUCTION *

While enroute to Kanab, we found this stream just off the road....In Zion NP

Here we go again....

Is there something wrong with folks that will take a week or two off from work and drive 2000+miles roundtrip with one or "more" greyhounds in the back of their vehicle?  Well we must truly be possessed, cuz we're doing it again! Janny and one of her pups, Tootsie, and me with one of mine, Ginny are in one vehicle. Then we have Catherine pulling a U-Haul with the Gift-Shop-to-go. Riding along with Catherine is Lynn with her 3 greyhounds: Raisin Bran, Howie and Bull.   So won't there be some double takes as we stop for breaks, gas, coffee, etc.....  Here you can see what we were up to on the way to Kanab, while in Kanab and after Kanab. Sorry to say that Lynn and Catherine could not join us on the after Kanab trip. Click here to see the album.

on the road....

As hard as I tried, I just couldn't keep my promise --- driving all day, or working all day at the GPA booth at Kanab just takes a lot of energy out of 'ya.  But I will try to give you some bits of information from our trip.....

...critters along the way...

If any of you have ever driven the highways, you will notice signs such as: "Watch for Deer", or "Elk" or "Cattle" or "Open Range".....We saw signs such as these throughout our travels through Texas, New Mexico, Utah, and Arizona.  The signs would say "watch for deer for the next 7 miles" or 15 miles ---and out of 3500+ miles we traveled, we saw only 2 live deer in the fields along side the highways, (however numerous fatalities were along the roadsides....) and several head of cattle just wandering around near or on the roadways.....nothing was ever said about loose sheep or goats which we saw on several occasions.... Hm-m, I guess we weren't supposed to notice these.

In several National Parks (or Monuments) we looked for various species of reptiles---and captured a couple of pictures! No Elk or other 4-legged critters were sighted however.

The dogs were fortunate in sighting their first Jack Rabbits out side of the Bed and Breakfast where we stayed in Bluff, Utah.  Tootsie became very excited and agitated--showing more activity than she had so far in this trip. Ginny went bezerk when she saw the critter.  It's as if seeing this little animal set off a buzzer in her brain, and her whole body went into over drive!  She was jumping and twisting--wanting so badly to go after this fuzzy little critter.  Of course our dogs were on 6 foot leads at all times.   And the next couple of times that we walked the dogs near that spot Tootsie and Ginny went on "High Alert"--all of their senses were working.  Their ears perked up and their heads would scan the territory hoping to catch site of a Jack Rabbit or two, or three.

...what NOT to do....
